Youth Suicide

In the United States:

the rate of suicide among young people aged 15-25 has tripled in the past 60 years.
suicide is the 2nd major cause of death among college students.
25% of students are preoccupied with suicide at some point while in high school or college.
8-10% of students attempt suicide during these years. Those who do are at ten times greater risk for future suicide.
depression is more common among young women than among young men.
young women attempt suicide two to three times as often as males.
young men their own lives four times as often as young women.
